I scrolled over an icon that says “male.” Does this mean women cannot enroll in the study?

A “male” icon means that a study is currently trying to recruit men. It does not necessarily mean women cannot enroll in the study; however, it could mean the study has enrolled enough women and are inviting more men to participate in the study.

Some of the studies have an icon of “National” or “Local.” What do these refer to?

Any icon that says “Local” means you must be in the area (Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia) and be willing to travel to the Schroeder Institute to complete the study. Icons that say “National” mean you can participate in the study from anywhere in the U.S.

Will I need Internet access to participate in the research study?

Some of the research studies do require you to have access to the Internet. Check the research study for additional details and information.

Will I need to have a cellphone to participate in the research study?

Some studies do require that you have a cellular device to be eligible for the research study. Check the research study for additional details and information.

Do I need to live in Washington, DC to participate in your studies?

Some of the research studies are local and you will need to be in the District of Columbia, Virginia, or Maryland area and also be willing to travel to the main headquarters in Washington, DC. For other research studies, you are eligible to enroll from the area or state in which you reside.
