Tobacco Use Among Young Adults

Legacy Young Adult Cohort Study

The Legacy Young Adult Cohort Study is designed to understand the trajectories of tobacco use in a young adult population (aged 18-34) using a longitudinal cohort sample (N~4,000). Data from the cohort have been used to estimate prevalence of cigarette and other tobacco product use in this nationally representative sample of young adults aged 18-34 drawn from GfK’s KnowledgePanel®. African American and Hispanic respondents were oversampled at the start of the study to ensure large enough samples for subgroup analysis. The baseline survey was fielded for one month in the summer of 2011, with subsequent waves of data collected semi-annually thereafter.
